About Richard Nixon
Richard Nixon was the 37th President of the United States who served from 1969 to 1974. As a result of his attempts to cover up illegal activities by members of his administration (the Watergate scandal), he was forced to resign the office of the Presidency in 1974, halfway through his second term making him the only serving U.S. President to ever resign from his position.
Career
He served as a U.S. Representative and a U.S. Senator from California before going on to serve two terms as Vice President under President Dwight Eisenhower. He first ran for presidency in 1960 but lost to Democrat John F. Kennedy. He ran again for the second time in 1968 and won.
Achievements
He improved international relations with China and U.S.S.R. and ended the war in Vietnam.
