About Richard D. Zanuck
Born into a family which had both parents working in the film industry, it was not very difficult for Richard Darryl Zanuck to get his start in the industry. His production debut happened in 1959 through the film “Compulsion”.
He became famous through his partnership with fellow producer David Brown, with whom he worked on successful films such as “Driving Miss Daisy”, “The Sugarland Express” and “Cocoon”. He has worked with acclaimed directors Steven Spielberg and Tim Burton.
Family Life
He was the son of producer Darryl F. Zanuck and actress Virginia Fox. His first two marriages were to actresses Lili Gentle and Linda Harrison, respectively. His third wife, producer-director Lili Fini, was married to him from 1978 until his death. He had four children with his first two wives.
Achievements
“Driving Miss Daisy” won him an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award and two Producers Guild of America Awards.
Death
He died of a heart attack on 13 July 2012.
