About Riccardo Muti
Italian conductor Riccardo Muti has gained international recognition through his work with symphony orchestras, at operas, concerts and music festivals and as a recording artist. He has conducted the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra and has worked at the Salzburg Festival, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Maggio Musicale in Florence. He is the music director of the Chicago Symphony and the Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini.
Family Life
He was the son of Domenico Muti, a pathologist and his wife, Gilda. Since 1969, he has been married to Maria Cristina Mazzavillani who founded the Ravenna Festival and has served as its director. They have two sons together.
Achievements
Awards he has received include two Grammy Awards, a Birgit Nilsson Prize, the Praemium Imperiale and a Prince of Asturias Award.

He released an autobiography titled “Riccardo Muti: An Autobiography: First the Music, Then the Words”.
