American actress, model and producer Rene Marie Russo started out in the 1970s as a model. She became famous in the 1970s and 1980s as a top model. When her popularity in the industry began to wane in the late 1980s, she turned to acting with a debut appearance in the television series, “Sable” in 1987.
She gained international recognition through film roles such as Lorna Cole in “Lethal Weapon”, Karen Flores in “Get Shorty” and Catherine Banning in “The Thomas Crown Affair”.
Family Life
Her parents were Nino Russo, a car mechanic and sculptor, and Shirley Balocca, a barmaid and factory worker. She has a sister called Toni. She has been the wife of screenwriter and director Dan Gilroy since 1992. Their daughter’s name is Rose.
Achievements
In 2014, she received a Saturn Award for starring in the film, “Nightcrawler”.
