About Renato Sobral
Before his tenth birthday, Brazilian mixed martial artist Renato Sobral had started his career in the sport. In 1998, he won the South American Wrestling Championship, as well as the Brazilian National Wrestling Championship.
The following year, he participated in his first match under the RINGS promotion which marked the start of his rise to fame. He gained international recognition when he had his first Ultimate Fighting Championship match in 2000. Before announcing his retirement in 2013, he had fought under a number of promotions including Bellator Fighting Championships, and Strikeforce. During his time with the latter, he won the Light Heavyweight title.
Private Life
He has been married to a lady known as Natasha, and their children are Sophia, and Maria Fernanda.

During his active days, he was known by the nickname Babalu.
In 2008, he established his gym which is known as Babalu's Iron Gym.
