About Regine Velasquez
Regine Velasquez’s rise to stardom started at the age of 14 years when she competed and won the 1984 edition of the singing contest titled “Ang Bagong Kampeon”. Two years later, she dropped her maiden single titled "Love Me Again" under the name "Chona".
In 1987, the celebrated Filipino singer and actress issued her self-named maiden studio album. She gained global attention with her first international titled “Listen Without Prejudice” which was released in 1994. She has gone on to release over 15 albums.
Acting career
The multi-talented entertainer has also made a name for herself in the movie industry. Her first movie role came in the 1988 comedy film entitled “The Untouchable Family”. She’s best known for her role in the film titled “Pangako Ikaw Lang”.
Family
She’s one of the children of Gerardo and Teresita Velasquez, and was raised together with four siblings namely Cacai, Deca, Jojo and Diane. She and singer Ogie Alcasid tied the knot in 2010, and the following year they had their first child called Nathaniel James.
Accomplishments
Velasquez is arguably the most decorated Filipino entertainer of her generation. Her numerous awards include Aliw Awards, Awit Awards, MTV Asia Awards, and Box Office Entertainment Awards.
Trivia
She suffered a miscarriage before her marriage.
She has worked for many charity organizations such as United Nations Children's Fund, and Philippine Red Cross.
