Reggie Lewis was a talented professional basketball star, who played in the NFL as a shooting guard for the Boston Celtics. His promising career came to an end after his shocking demise just at the age of 27.
Career
He was drafted by the Celtics during the 1987 NBA draft. K. C. Jones was his coach when he began playing for the Celtics.
In 1993, on April 29, Lewis played his final match in the NBA. It was against the Charlotte Hornets.
Education
Lewis had his high school education at Dunbar High School. During his time there he was actively involved in the school’s basketball team.
After graduating from high school, he continued his education at Northeastern University, where he was a prominent member of the school’s basketball team. He set the university’s all-time record of 2,708 points. Also, during his time, the university’s basketball team won the America East Conference four consecutive times.

He was the son of Inez Reid. Lewis was married to Donna Harris. They became a married couple in 1991 and stayed together until his demise in 1993. He had children named Reggie and Reggieana Lewis.
Death
Few months before Lewis’ death, he was diagnosed with a heart problem known as cardiomyopathy. He died on the basketball court from cardiac arrest after he participated in a practice game at Brandeis University in Massachusetts.
Trivia
Lewis wore the number 35 jersey during his time with the Celtics. His jersey number was retired by the team. This made him the second player, after Ed Macauley, in the club’s history to have their jersey number retired.
He was 2.01 m tall.
At Dunbar High School, Lewis played basketball together with fellow NBA stars Reggie Williams and Muggsy Bogues.
He was a second cousin to basketball star, PJ Dozier Jr.
He played a little over 8 minutes during his rookie season in the NBA.
