About Rebecca Adlington
Rebecca Adlington changed the face of British competitive swimming, which had not produced any Olympic champion for 20 years prior to her accomplishment at Beijing 2008. She specialized in the 400-metre and 800-metre freestyle events in international events such as the European Games, the World Championships, the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games. At the Beijing Olympics in 2008, she broke a 19-year-old record for the 800-metre freestyle race.
Family Life
She has a sister named Laura who suffered from encephalitis. In 2009, she (Rebecca) was appointed as the Ambassador of the Encephalitis Society. She had a daughter from her first marriage (from 2014 to 2016) to Harry Needs, a former swimmer. In March 2021, she had a son with Andy Parsons, whom she married six months later.
Achievements
She won a total of seven gold medals, three silver medals and seven bronze medals from all international competitions she participated in.
