About Ray Bourque
Ray Bourque rose to international stardom after he was drafted into the NHL by the Boston Bruins in 1979. Prior to that, he featured in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for Trois-Rivières Draveurs, and Sorel.
During his time with the Bruins, he played in the 1988 and 1990 Stanley Cup finals. Considered as one of the best defensemen of all-time, Bourque won many individual trophies including the James Norris Memorial Trophy. He received that award five times before retiring from the sport.
He also featured for the Colorado Avalanche between 2000 and 2001.
International career
Bourque played for the Canadian ice hockey team at a number of tournaments. He played for his country at the Winter Olympics in 1998. He also participated in the Canada Cup.
Personal Life
He’s the son of Anita Allain and Raymond Bourque Sr. He lost his mum to breast cancer at the age of 12 years. He has children with a lady called Christiane.
Honors
In 2004, he was ushered into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Throughout his playing days, he won many awards including the Calder Memorial Trophy, Lester Patrick Trophy, and King Clancy Memorial Trophy. His favorite number 77 shirt has been retired by the Boston Bruins, and Colorado Avalanche.

He’s fluent in both French and English.
He was selected into the All-Star team nineteen times.
