Career
Interestingly enough, Ravi Shankar had a background in western culture, including jazz and classical music, because he toured Europe as a dancer. After this tour, he moved back to India to learn Indian classical music. He learned the sitar and the surbahar. On these, he learned Ragas and different musical styles. He has returned to Europe since to record his music. While in London, Shankar influenced rock bands at the studio with his music. For example, George Harrison of the Beatles decided to go to India to study music because of Shankar.
