About Rani Lakshmibai
Rani Lakshmibai was an extremely famous Indian leader, who is noted to have been the queen of the Maratha princely state of Jhansi, located in North India. Lakshmibai is highly admired in her homeland for playing a key role during the unsuccessful Indian Rebellion of 1857.
She was homeschooled and was one of the few women who were able to read and write during her time. She received education in areas like housemanship, mallakhamba and fencing.
Family Life
She was born to father, Moropant Tambe, and mother, Bhagirathi Sapre. Her children include; Anand and Damodar Rao. She married Gangadhar Rao in 1842, a marriage that lasted for about 11 years till his death in 1853.
Trivia
She was mostly called "Chhabili", which translates to "playful" in English.
She lost her mother when she was four.
She died at age 29.
