About Randy Cross
Former professional football player, Randy Cross played for the San Francisco 49ers from 1976-1988. From the late 1980s, he transitioned into a successful broadcasting career.
Amateur Career
Cross attended Crespi Carmelite High School in California, where he was known for being the school’s shot put champion. He later attended the University of California, Los Angeles and was selected to play for the Bruins, who he helped win the Rose Bowl in 1976.
Professional Career
He was drafted into the National Football League (NFL) following his Rose Bowl victory to play for the 49ers. He spent 13 years with the team, playing in three Super Bowl championships.
Retirement
After retiring in 1988, Cross pursued a broadcasting career, working for stations such as CBS Sports and CBS College Sports TV. From 1995-2012, he co-hosted the show “Rick and Randy.”
Honors
He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011. He was also a three-time Super Bowl champion and played in the Pro Bowl three times.
