About Qasem Soleimani
Qasem Soleimani was the commander of Iran’s Quds Force and the major general of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a wing of the national armed forces. He spent most of his youthful years with the IRGC but fully joined the unit in 1979. He became a well-known figure especially in his country during the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s.
In 1998, he was promoted to the position of the major general in the Quds Force. He was described by many as the Middle East’s most powerful operative and was instrumental in lots of military action in the region.
Soleimani was killed in an air attack in Baghdad which was masterminded by the USA in January 2020.
Personal Life
Soleimani left behind four children. He was born to Hassan and Fatemeh Soleimani and had six siblings. His only brother, Sohrab, was once Tehran Prisons Organization’s director-general.
