Early Life & Education
A 1986 graduate of Eerste Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum, he was the second son of Princess Beatrix and Prince Claus of the House of Orange-Nassau.
Notable Facts
He co-founded the MRI Center in Amsterdam and also helped pioneer Wizz Air, a Hungarian airline. He served as an honorary chairman of the Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development, an NGO that supports arts and culture. Until his death, he was the C.F.O of the nuclear fuel consortium, URENCO, headquartered in England.
Avalanche Accident
He was a victim of an avalanche in Lech, Austria while he was skiing in the backcountry. A serious brain injury soon caused a “minimally conscious state.” He eventually died from related medical conditions in 2013.
Personal Life
He was married to human rights activist Mabel Martine Los. They had two daughters.
