About Pope Julius III
Born as Giovanni Maria Ciocchi del Monte, Pope Julius III was named as the leader of the Roman Catholic Church in 1950. His appointment also made him the leader of the Papal States.
His reign was marked with lots of scandals including his relationship with Innocenzo Ciocchi Del Monte, the pope’s adopted nephew. Prior to that, he served as an Archbishop of Manfredonia, and Cardinal-Bishop of Palestrina.

He attended the University of Siena, and the University of Perugia where he studied law.
