About Phil Harris
Wonga Phillip Harris, better known as Phil Harris found success as a musician, actor and comedian, an active professional life that lasted for close to six decades. He started out as a circus band drummer and by the 1930s, he was leading a Los Angeles band. He became a prominent radio sitcom actor, best known for the shows, “The Jack Benny Program” and “The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show”. He was also famous for his voice acting roles in animated films, notable amongst them being Little John in “Robin Hood”, Baloo in “The Jungle Book” and Thomas O’Malley in “The Aristocrats”.
Family Life
He was the son of a circus-performing couple and it was through his tent bandleader father that he landed his first drumming job. He was raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He was married to actress Marcia Ralston from 1927 to 1940 and then to actress/singer Alice Faye from 1941 until his death. He had three children.
Death
He died on August 11, 1995 from a heart attack.
