Philip Anthony Esposito is the name he was given when he was born.
Career
As a teenager, he joined the Chicago Black Hawks and became a part of the Sarnia Legionnaires team. He then went back to the main team after some time. He later moved to Boston Bruins in 1967 and became one of the greatest scorers they had. In 1975, he was traded to the New York Rangers. He also played for the Canada national team. In 1981, he went on retirement and returned to work as the head coach and general manager of his old team, the New York Rangers. During this time, he did a lot of transactions and earned the nickname “Trader Phil”.
Achievements
He has received a lot of awards for his feats in hockey including the Golden Plate Award of the American Academy of Achievement which he received in 1972 and the Lou Marsh Trophy in the same year for being Canadian athlete of the year.
Trivia
In 1977 while playing for New York Rangers, he scored a goal for the 600th time in NHL.
