About Peter Graves
Peter Graves was an American actor who made a name for himself through roles in television series, television movies and feature films.
His career, which he began in 1951, spanned close to sixty years. He is remembered best for portraying Jim Phelps in the television series, “Mission: Impossible” and Captain Clarence Oveur in the parody films “Airplane” and “Airplane II: The Sequel”.
Prior to his acting debut, he had fought in the 2nd World War as a member of the United States Army Air Forces.
Family Life
His mother, Ruth Duesler was a journalist while his father, Cirkler Aurness was a businessman. He was the younger brother of actor James Arness.
Joan Endress Graves was his wife from 1950 until he died. The couple had three daughters together.
Achievements
He won a Golden Globe Award and Primetime Emmy Award for his career on television. He is an inductee of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Death
He died of a heart attack on 14 March 2010.
