About Penny Marshall
Penny Marshall is an American actress, producer and director known for starring as Laverne DeFazio on the ABC hit sitcom Happy Days and its spin-off series Laverne & Shirley, for which she received three Golden Globe Award nominations. As a director, she has over the years directed a number of famous films, including the 1988 comedy film Big and the 1992 comedy-drama film A League of Their Own.
Family Life
In 1961, she got married to Michael Henry, with whom she had a daughter named Tracy. The couple divorced in 1963. Her second marriage was to actor and director Rob Reiner in 1971. The marriage ended in 1981.
Achievements
In 2004, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In addition to her 1988 film Big being included in Empire Magazine's list of "The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time", the film also became the first feature film directed by a female director to gross over $100 million.
Trivia
She was diagnosed with lung cancer and brain tumor in 2010.
