About Pekka Rinne
Pekka Rinne is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who has played as goaltender mainly in the North American Hockey league (NHL) and the American Hockey League (AHL).
Clubs
Pekka played twenty-five SM-1 league games within three years for Oulun Karpat in both the junior and senior team till 2005 but played the 2003/2004 Mestis season for Hokki. He then signed for the Nashville Predators in 2005 and initially played for the team’s affiliate in North America, the Milwaukee Admirals.
Between 2005/2006 to 2015/2016 seasons, Pekka played for the Admirals and Predators except in 2012/2013 season, when he played in the Kontinental Hockey League for Dinamo Minsk during a lock out in the NHL.
Up to 2016, Pekka had played 447 games with 238 wins at the club level.
International
He played twenty-five international games with fourteen wins for the Finland All-Star Team in five seasons of the IIHF World Championship.
Awards
Pekka earned the Most Valuable Player and the Best Goaltender of the 2014 and 2015 IIHF Championships, respectively.
Among many honors in the NHL and AHL, he was the NHL Rookie of the Month after recording nine wins out of twelve games in February 2009.
