Paul was an American musician who played the harmonica. He was a band leader and also a singer.
Personal Life
Paul Vaughn Butterfield was born to a middle-class family and his father was a lawyer and painter. He loved Jazz and blues and it was evident when he used to listen and enjoy his father’s records at a young age. He was also into sports in school and was an all-state tracker. He later got into University of Chicago even though he received a scholarship to get into Brown University.
Career
His love for music and his inability to continue his dream in sports made him start his music career. He started going to blue clubs and coffee houses to perform with Nick Gravenites. Together they formed a band called “Butterfield Blue Band”. Their initial recordings were not good enough for their producer but they improved on the subsequent ones. In 1965, they made it to number 123 on the billboard chart.
Death
He suffered from Peritonitis and went through several surgeries. He also became addicted to heroin and lost all his money to the addiction. He later died of an accidental drug overdose.
