About Patti LaBelle
Patti LaBelle is an American singer, actress and entrepreneur. She started performing in 1960 as the lead singer of a local girl group called the Ordettes in 1960, which became Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles and eventually, Labelle. They disbanded in 1976, following chart and commercial successes with hits such as “Lady Marmalade” and “Down the Aisle”. She began pursuing a solo career in 1977 when she released her debut album, “Patti LaBelle”. She has since become known for singles such as “New Attitude”, “Stir It Up” and “If Only You Knew”.
Family Life
She had three sisters, who passed away in their 40s. She also has a brother. Her parents, Bertha and Henry Holte divorced when she was twelve years old. She was married to a schoolteacher named Armstead Edwards from 1969 to 2003. He also served as her manager until 2000. They have a son named Zuri.
Achievements
Her honors include three Grammy Awards, five NAACP Image Awards and an American Music Award.
