About Patrick Roy
Considered to be one of ice hockey’s all-time greatest goaltenders, Canadian former hockey star Patrick Roy played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for almost 20 years (1984-2003).
He first played eleven seasons in the league for the Montreal Canadiens, which selected him in the 1984 NHL draft, and then eight seasons for the Colorado Avalanche team.
He later served as the latter team’s vice president of hockey operations and head coach. He also coached and managed the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team, Quebec Ramparts.
Family Life
His younger brother, Stephane Roy also played in the NHL. He is also the father of ice hockey player Frederick Piuze-Roy, pop singer Jonathan Piuze-Roy and a third child named Jana. He was married to Michèle Piuze from 1990 to 2003.
Achievements
He is an inductee of the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Colorado Hall of Fame.
