About Patrick Lambie
Known for his excellent composure and accurate boot, Patrick Lambie is a former professional rugby player who played for the South African national team, the Springboks, as well as other international clubs. After suffering multiple concussions, Lambie retired in 2019.
Early Life
The former rugby star attended Clifton Preparatory in Durban, South Africa and later, Michaelhouse where he captained both rugby and cricket teams at the high school level.
Rugby Career
Lambie’s first professional match was in the 2009 ABSA U21 Currie Cup. He also joined the local South African team, The Sharks and played for the team for nearly ten years. Towards the latter part of his club career, Lambie moved to France to play for Racing 92.
Retirement & Honors
In 2019, Lambie announced his retirement. He won awards during his career, including winning the Currie Cup in 2010 and 2013. He was also named SARU Young Player of the Year in 2011, and also the South African Team of the Year in 2012.
