Personal Life

Osborne Earl Smith was the son of Marvella Smith and Clovi Marvella. He had four brothers and a sister. His mother worked in a nursing home while his father worked as a truck driver. As a young boy, he showed interest in a lot of different sports but focused on baseball. When he got into high school, his parents decided to go their separate ways. He joined the baseball and basketball teams when he got into high school and later attended California Polytechnic State University. He married a lady by name Denise and had three children with her before the marriage fell apart.

Career

In 1976, he was drafted by San Diego Padres and played for Walla Walla Padres in his first year as a professional player. He was a good player but after some time, he started having issues with the management and got traded to St Louis Cardinals in 1982. He stayed there for about two seasons before a new contract was drafted to extend his time with them. He ended up being with them until 1996 after which he retired.
