About Oscar Levant
He was an American musician and instrumentalist who played the piano, worked as a music conductor, a composer and actor among other things.
Personal Life
He was born to Jewish parents who were Immigrants from Russia. His father, by name Max, worked as a watchmaker and his mother was named Annie. He had three brothers, and during his teenage years, his father passed away so he moved to New York. In 1932, he made Barbara Woodell his wife but the marriage ended in the same year. About seven years later, he married June Gale and birthed three children with her but his death ended their marriage.
Career
In his acting career, he got the opportunity to show his talent. In 1925, he got a role in “Ben Bernie and all the Lads” then in 1936, he was in “Charlie Chan at the Opera”. He was also handed roles in “The I Don’t Care Girl” and “An American in Paris”.
Death
He did not have the best of health due to heavy smoking and drug abuse so in 1972, he suffered a heart attack and passed away.
