About Norman Vincent Peale
Norman Vincent Peale was a church minister, journalist, and author from the US. He was well known for his notion of positive thinking. Although his views and ideas were criticized by Christian writers and other scholars, he was still able to influence many prominent individuals with his concepts.
Born into a Methodist family, Peale, in 1922 was made a Methodist minister. However, after ten years of service, he changed his denomination to that of the Reformed Church in America. He served as a pastor for the latter denomination for fifty-two years.

As a writer, Peale’s works include “Why Some Positive Thinkers Get Powerful Results” in 1987, “You Can If You Think You Can” in 1987, “Sin, Sex and Self-Control” in 1977, and “Norman Vincent Peale's Treasury of Courage and Confidence” in 1970.
Education
He was educated at Bellefontaine High School, Ohio Wesleyan University, and Boston University School of Theology.
Family
He was born to Anna Delaney and Charles Peale. He had two brothers. In 1930, he got married to Ruth Stafford Peale. His three children were Margaret Ann Everett, John Stafford Peale, and Elizabeth Ruth Allen.
Death
In 1993, he died of a stroke.
Award
In 1984, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from the then U. S. President, Ronald Reagan.
Trivia
Peale was the co-founder of the Guideposts magazine alongside his wife and Raymond Thornburg in 1945.
His book, “The Power of Positive Thinking” was a New York Times bestseller.
In 1947, Peale together with Kenneth Beebe founded The Horatio Alger Association.
He was also the founder of Guideposts Publications, the Peale Center as well as the Positive Thinking Foundation.
His radio program titled “The Art of Living”, which he started in 1935 lasted for fifty-four years.
