Early Life
Born into a middle class family in Genoa, Italy, he studied at Saint-Jean de Passy. He later enrolled at Sorbonne in Paris and studied music and painting.
Musical Career
By age 29, he was already signed to Barclay records. He released his debut record, “°Pour oublier qu'on s'est aimé” in 1963. Though the 4-track EP was not well received in France, its single, “L'Irréparable,” did well in some parts of Europe. His song “Mirza” was an instant success and inspired him to release more hits, including, “Les Cornichons,” and “Oh! Hé! Hein! Bon!” After a number of concerts and TV appearances later, he released another banger, “Le Téléfon.”
Personal Life
After the death of his mother, Mounette, he went through a deep depression. He shot himself in the heart a few days before his 64th birthday.
