About Nicola Adams
English retired professional boxer Nicola Adams has come to be associated with multiple “firsts” in the sport. Being the first female to represent England in the sport after fighting someone from Ireland in 2001, she started out in the bantamweight division before settling on the flyweight later on in her career. The boxer is also recognized as the first woman to win a gold medal in boxing at the Olympics after she was named champion in London in 2012.

She is the daughter of Denver and Innocent Adams. She grew up in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. She is openly a lesbian and has been in a relationship with Ella Baig.
Accomplishments
Her championship wins include the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, the 2011 European Championships, the 2015 European Games, the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2016 World Championships.
Trivia
She retired in 2019, after her final match against Maria Salinas to defend her World Championship title resulted in a torn pupil.
