About Néstor Kirchner
The late Argentine politician Néstor Carlos Kirchner Jr. became the 50th president of his country in 2003. Before then, he had had his first political experience as the Mayor of Rio Gallegos from 1987 to 1991. From there, he succeeded in his bid to become the Governor of Santa Cruz in 1991 and served until 2003.
After his first term in office as the president of Argentina, he made Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, his wife, contest in the elections instead. He was in his third year as the First Gentleman of Argentina when he passed away.
Family Life
He was one of three children born to María Juana Ostoić and Néstor Carlos Kirchner Sr. He married Cristina in 1975. Politician Maximo Carlos Kirchner is one of their two children.
Legacy
His death came as a big blow to many people due to his political influence and his relatively “younger” age.
Death
He died of cardiac arrest on 27 October 2020 at 60 years old.
