About Neil Horan
The laicized Irish Roman Catholic priest, also known as The Grand Prix Priest or The Dancing Priest, is known for his notorious behavior and intrusion of the 2003 British Grand Prix and the 2004 Summer Olympics men’s marathon in advancing his belief in the near end times.
Horan was ordained as a priest in 1973. He began his protest on the 200mph Hangar Straight and was arrested and charged with aggravated trespass and also received a two-month imprisonment term.
On August 29, he joined the 2004 Athens Olympics men’s marathon event displaying posters on his front and back, he was later arrested by the Greek police and received a 12-month suspension sentence due to his mental condition.
The priest’s clerical status was removed by Kevin McDonald, the Archbishop of Southwark on January 20, 2005. He was also given an Anti-Social Behavior Order (ASBO), which barred him from trespassing on any of London Marathon routes.
He appeared on Series 3 of “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2009 where he performed an Irish folk dance, wearing traditional attire.
