About Ned Kelly
Ned Kelly was an Australian bushranger and outlaw considered one of Australia's greatest folk heroes. During his outlaw days, he and his gang, the Kelly Gang, were notorious for several robberies and police shootings. He eluded police capture for two years until he was finally apprehended in 1880 during a shootout with police that resulted in the death of all members of his gang, including his brother Dan. He was executed by hanging after being convicted of murder. He was 25 years old.
Family Life
He was the son of Ellen Quinn Kelly and Irish convict John "Red" Kelly. He had several siblings, including Dan Kelly.
Trivia
Over a century after his death, he still remains a legendary figure and a cultural icon in Australia. While some consider him Australia's equivalent of Robin Hood, others see him as nothing but a murderous villain.
