About Nargis
Nargis was an acclaimed Indian actress whose massively successful acting career saw her join the ranks of the greatest actresses in the history of the Hindi film industry. Some of her best-known film roles include Kammo in 1956's Chori Chori, Radha in 1957's Mother India and Varuna/Peggy in 1967's Raat Aur Din.
Family Life
In 1958, she married actor Sunil Dutt. The marriage produced three children, including Sanjay, who grew up to become one of the most successful Indian actors of his generation.
Awards
She won a Filmfare Award for her role in Mother India. Her role in Raat Aur Din earned her a National Film Award. In 1958, she became the first actress in India to be honored with India's fourth highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri.
Trivia
She died tragically just few days before her son Sanjay's debut film Rocky came out.
