Napoleon Bonaparte was a French politician and military leader. He was Emperor of France from 1804 until 1815.
His Legacy
He dominated Europe during The French Revolutionary Wars, winning most of them. He conquered most of Europe, until his final defeat in 1815. He finally surrendered to the British and he spent the last 6 years of his life on the island of Saint Helena. He is the most famous political figure in modern history and his military campaigns are studied at schools worldwide until today.
His Personal Life
He was of Italian descent. He was married twice and he had many children by his mistresses. He died in 1821. In 1840, more than 1 million people from all around Europe gathered in the streets of Paris to witness his remains returning to his country.
