About Mikhail Bulgakov
Mikhail Bulgakov’s interest in literature was built during his time as a student at the First Kyiv Gymnasium from 1901 to 1909. Although he received training as a physician and practiced it for a few years, he left it behind to become a full-time writer. In 1919, he published his first book, “Future Perspectives”. A critically-acclaimed novelist, short story writer and playwright, he is known for works such as his novels “The Master and Margarita” and “The White Guard” and his plays “The Days of the Turbins” and “Flight”.
Family Life
His mother, Varvara Mikhailovna was a teacher while his father, Afanasiy Bulgakov was a professor and state councilor. He was married three times.
Death
He died on March 10, 1940 from nephrosclerosis, the same disease which had killed his father.
