José Miguel Cabrera Torres, popularly referred to as Miguel Cabrera was just 16 years old when he made his debut in Venezuela’s professional baseball league in 1999 with the Tigres de Aragua. Following a signing with MLB’s Florida Marlins in 1999, he started playing in the American minor league in 2000. He finally made his MLB debut with the Marlins in 2003. Four years later, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers and has been playing as the team’s first baseman and designated hitter since.

He was raised in Aragua State, Venezuela. His parents’ names are Gregoria Torres and Migue; Cabrera. He has three children with his wife, Rosangel and two other younger ones with a former mistress of his.

He has won the Silver Slugger Award 7 times between 2005 and 2016. He was named the MLB’s MVP in 2012 and 2013.
