Pfeiffer's first credited acting role was in the TV series Delta House. The next year, 1980, Pfeiffer was in The Hollywood Knights, which was her first film. Her performance in Scarface three years later is considered her breakthrough to the mainstream. She has since been in popular films like Batman Returns, What Lies Beneath, The Fabulous Baker Boys, and Hairspray.
