About Michel Legrand
Academy Award-winning musician Michel Legrand composed over two hundred television and film scores during his career which spanned for more than seven decades. He came into the limelight at the age of 22 years after releasing perhaps his most popular album titled “I Love Paris”. He went on to release over twenty albums including “Paris Jazz Piano” and “Strings On Fire”.
Family
He was the son of music composer Raymond Legrand and his wife Marcelle Ter-Mikaëlian. He was the nephew of popular musician Jacques Hélian. This musician married Macha Méril in 2014 and they stayed together until his death. Prior to their union, he was married to Isabelle Rondon. He was survived by three kids.
Education
He had his training at the famous Conservatoire de Paris.
Prizes
Throughout his career, he won five Grammy Awards, and three Academy Awards. Other laurels that he received included the Golden Globes, and the Golden Eagle Award.
Trivia
Some films that he scored for were “The Thomas Crown Affair” and “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg”.
He started his training at the age of 11 years.
