The French philosopher and writer was a member of the French Resistance during the Second World War. He was an influential figure in continental philosophy in the 20th century. He is also credited with promoting a philosophy of religion and Christianity in particular.

Notable Works
His most important book “L'Essence de la manifestation,” which was published in 1963, represents his arguments regarding philosophies of transcendence and phenomenology based on pre-meditation. His “Philosophie at phénoménologie du corps" explored his eternal life themes, subjectivity and experience. His work “Du communism au capitalisme” examines the collapse of socialist regimes in the East.
Among his published novels are “Le jeune officier,” “L’Amour les yeux fermés,” “Le Fils du roi” and “Le Cadavre indiscret.”
Awards
In 1984, he received the Chevalier du Mérite Agricole and two years later, was awarded the Médaille de Vermeil of Paris.
