Career Highlights
One of his most-recognizable roles during his career is that of Costas Portokalos (Gus) in the 2002 romantic comedy film “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. In the film, he starred alongside John Corbett and Nia Vardalos, playing the onscreen father of the Vardalos. He also starred in the film’s sequel in 2016.
In addition to the above, Constantine will also be remembered for his part in the comedy-drama TV series “Room 222” on ABC TV network.
During the start of his career, he was known for playing the bad-guy roles. Notable among such roles includes Big John in 1961’s “The Hustler”.
He also had roles on several TV shows including “Law & Order,” and “The Twilight Zone.”

Constantine, before becoming famous, worked in various fields including working as a watchman.
He starred in his first film, alongside Mickey Rooney, in 1959’s “The Last Mile”. On this Howard W. Koch-directed film he was given the role of Ed Warner, a convict.
He stated that he initially used the stage name Michael Barr.
