About Michael Bennett
Multiple award-winning theater director Michael Bennett was widely celebrated for his numerous Broadway shows. His career began in 1961 as a dancer in the musical titled “Subways Are for Sleeping”. As a choreographer, the American entertainer made his debut in 1966 as a cast member in the musical “A Joyful Noise”.
Despite his eye-catching performances, Bennett was famously known for his directorial works. Some popular stage productions that he worked on were “Follies” and “A Chorus Line”.

His official name was Michael Bennett DiFiglia and he was the son of Salvatore Joseph DiFiglia and Helen Ternoff. Between 1976 and 1977, he was married to Donna McKechnie.
Awards
Throughout his career, he received 7 Tony Awards. Other prizes that he won were the Drama Desk Award and the Pulitzer Prize.
