About Mauro Ferrari
Mauro Ferrari is an Italian-American nanoscientist who is recognized as being one of the premier professionals in his field. And throughout his career he has held a number of positions, in addition to producing a wide range of publications, in that regard.
Family Life
In 1995 he married a lady named Paola Del Zotto. He and Paola have given birth to two different sets of twins.
Achievements
He graduated from the University of Padova with a degree in Mathematics.
He has both a Master’s degree and Ph.D. via the University of California Berkeley in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
Ferrari served on the board of a number of corporate bodies, many of which are related to the field of medicine.
He also served on the National Cancer Institute from 2003 to 2005 and while there he helped setup the Alliance for Nanotechnology in Cancer.
He briefly served as President of the European Commission’s European Research Council from 2019 to 2020.
As of 2020 he has written seven books which deal with nanotechnology, on top of authoring a number of articles in respected science journals.
Additionally he owns over 20 patents, mostly in the United States.
Trivia
His first wife died from cancer.
He resigned from the presidency of the ERC after only a year on the job. His cited reason was his disappointment in the way the organization dealt with the 2019-2020 global pandemic. However, about a week prior to that, the 19 members of the governing body of the institution unanimously voted that he should resign anyway, stating that he wasn't truly vested in performing his outlined duties.
He briefly served as President of the European Commission’s European Research Council (ERC) from 2019 to 2020.
