Mark Joseph Green was the name given to him at birth and he is a politician and an American author.
Personal Life
He was from a Jewish family. His parents were Republicans. He schooled in Great Neck South High School before continuing at Cornell University and then going to Harvard Law School. In Law school, he was made the editor-in-chief of the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review. He also got married to Lynn Heineman while still in law school. The marriage lasted for a year and half. He later married Deni Frand in 1977 with whom he has two children.
Career
When he was done with law school, he worked in Washington DC. He worked as Ramsey Clark’s campaign manager. Ramsey was the former U.S. Attorney General who wanted to be in the senate at the time.
He got the position of New York’s Consumer Affairs Commissioner with the blessing of Mayor David Dinkins. He went on to compete in the race to be the mayor of New York City in 2001. The election was one of the closest mayoral elections in New York City when he lost to Republican nominee Michael Bloomberg with 50% - 48%.
