Margaret Thatcher was an English politician. She served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and the Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990.
Her Highlights/Legacy
She emphasised on deregulation, flexible labour markets, the privatisation of state-owned companies, as well as reducing the power of trade unions. From 1987 to 1990, she became very unpopular and she eventually resigned.
She is best known as the "Iron Lady", a nickname that was given to her by a Soviet journalist. "Thatcherism" political style is named after her. She is the only woman to have held the office in the UK.

She was married to businessman Denis Thatcher and they had 2 children. She died at the age of 87 after suffering a stroke.
