About Mao Asada
Mao Asada was 12 years old when she made her debut in competitive figure skating via the 2002-03 season of the Japanese novice national championships. She would go on to conquer the world over the next decade, setting and breaking international records and winning medals in the sport. She was the first Asian singles skater to win multiple championships and the first female skater overall to make three triple Axel jumps in a single competition (the 2010 Winter Olympics). She officially retired in April 2017.
Family Life
She is the younger sister of the lesser-known Mai Asada, who is also a retired competitive figure skater that excelled in the junior divisions. She was raised in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture.
Achievements
She won three World Championships, one Olympic silver medal, four Grand Prix Final championships and three Four Continents championships.
