About Manuel L. Quezon
Manuel Luis Quezon is remembered in history as the 2nd President of the Philippines. The statesman, politician and soldier abandoned his studies as a law student for a while to participate in the independence movement, serving as an aide-de-camp to then-president Emilio Aguinaldo.
Years after graduating from law school, he began his political career as a municipal council for the city of Lucena. He would go on to serve in the House of Representatives and the Senate. He won his country’s first presidential election in 1935, serving until his death in 1944, while in exile.
Family Life
Both of his parents, Maria Dolores Molina and Lucio Quezon were primary school teachers. His wife was Aurora Aragon, whom he married in 1918. He had four children.
Achievements
He was honored with a posthumous Wallenberg Medal.
Death
He died from tuberculosis in New York on August 1, 1944.
