Mamie Van Doren is an American actress, singer and model. She made a name for herself in pageantry in the late 1940s before making her acting debut in 1951. Her first film role was as an uncredited character in “Footlight Varieties”. She got her breakthrough role as Penny Lowe in the 1957 film, “Untamed Youth”, in which she set a record as the first actress to perform a rock ‘n roll song in a musical film from the USA. Her other well-known films include “The Beat Generation”, “Born Reckless” and “Teacher’s Pet”.
Family Life
Her parents’ names were Lucille Harriet Bennett and Warner Carl Olander. She has had five husbands, with her first marriage happening in 1949 when she was just 17 years old. Bandleader and trumpeter Ray Anthony was her second husband. They have one son together In 1979, she married her fifth husband, Thomas Dixon.
