About Machine Gun Kelly
Machine Gun Kelly was a notorious American gangster and businessman who specialized in a number of criminal activities, most notably armed robbery and bootlegging. His criminal career came to an end in 1933 after he kidnapped a wealthy oil tycoon named Charles F. Urschel and received a ransom of $200,000. The crime eventually led to his capture. He was subsequently convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment along with his wife Kathryn Kelly.
Personal Life
He had two sons with his first wife Geneva Ramsey. His second marriage was to Kathryn Kelly, who was also a member of his criminal gang.
Trivia
He derived his well-known nickname “Machine Gun Kelly” from his weapon of choice, a Thompson submachine gun.
He died suddenly of a heart attack on his birthday in 1954. He was still in prison at the time of his death.
