Luther Vandross was an American singer and songwriter. He sold over 35 million records during his music career.
Legacy
Luther won 8 Grammy Awards for his work but before he was a superstar he was a backup singer for stars such as Roberta Flack and Diana Ross. Luther’s debut album “Never Too Much” was a huge success and its single also titled “Never Too Much” was #1 on the Billboard R&B. One of his last appearances was at the 2004 Grammy Awards to accept a Grammy for his song “Dance With My Father”. He died of complications suffered from a stroke the following year.
Personal
Luther never married or had any children. Luther’s mother died in 2008. Luther’s estate left a large undisclosed donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
