About Luis Buñuel
Luis Buñuel Portolés was a film director from Spain. He made films from 1929 until 1977, with his debut project being the short film “Un Chien Andalou”. Many of his works were in the silent surrealist genre. However, he was noted for other genres as well.
His popular films include:

Personal Life
He was born to Leonardo Buñuel and Maria Portolés Cerezuela. He grew up with four sisters and two brothers in Zaragoza, Spain. He was in a five-year relationship with Concha Mendez. He had two sons from his marriage to Jeanne Lefebvre.
Achievements
He was given the National Prize for Arts and Sciences in 1977.
Death
He died from complications of diabetes in 1983 in Mexico City.
